Gotham City is in turmoil. Batman is dead, Black Mask has come back from the dead, Arkham Asylum has been destroyed, Gotham City's streets R no longer safe, & an impersonater claiming 2 B Batman is killing gang members left right & sideways. This all has the makings of an awesome Batman story accept 4 1 problem; Batman is gone. After the events in "R.I.P." & "Final Crisis" Gotham City is in a state of emergency. So, w/ all of this who is going to protect a Gotham City w/out its Dark Knight?
Nightwing has assembled a team (consisting of Robin, Huntress, Black Canary, Batwoman, Wildcat, Catwoman, Damien (Bruce's son), & some of the heroes from the secret "League of Heroes") 2 fight the scum of Gotham. With all of this Black Mask (presumed dead) has come back 2 life & unleashed Poison Ivy, Firefly, Killer Croc, and other Arkham criminals. Oh, and Black Mask also destroyed Arkham Asylum in the process. Commisioner Gordon is feeling the heat of the job as more cops resign & he is facing the possiblility of loosing his job.
All a while an imposter (who apparently knew all of Bruce's secrets) has taken up the mantle of the Batman and is killing off criminals. & Alfred is pushing the idea of a new Batman 2 Dick Grayson (the 1st Robin now Nightwing).
As 4 my review I must say that this is a gr8 start 2 what DC Comics has called "The New Era of Batman." The story (just like Batman R.I.P.) is a little confusing @ 1st but you'll get the gist of it once U read it. It's w/ an all star cast from Huntress to Catwoman. "Battle for the Cowl," also brings about the idea that Dick Grayson MIGHT become the new Batman. Also, this issue also puts a new father, son relationship w/ Dick Grayson and Damien Wayne (Bruce's son). The issue ends w/ the imposter pretending 2 B Batman making his appearance saying; "I AM BATMAN."
Can't wait 4 pt.2 & my sources say that the identity of this imposter will B revealed in pt.2.
