For nearly 2 decades the Queen of Pop has given us some fantastic music (accept for "American Life" but we can forgive her). "Hard Candy" her 11th studio album (and final album for Warner Bros. Records) is a testament that the Queen still has it going on. For anybody who thinks that this is a sequal to her last record (the grammy award winning "Confessions on a Dancefloor") you are sadly mistaken. In this record Madonna breaks away from her longtime producer Stuart Price and collaborates with some of the biggest names in music today; Timbaland, Pharell Williams (mostly him), and Justin Timberlake. With these producers the Queen of Pop has moved away from the disco and into the streets. With Timbaland and Justin she brings fourth the Song "4 minutes," "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You," "Dance Tonight," and "Voices." And most of the CD is her collaborating with Pharell.
Its hard for me to choose which songs are good because they all are. However, the ones I can point out are "Candy Shop" (which is pretty much self explanatory), "4 Minutes" (which we've pretty much heard that song), "Give it 2 Me" (Great Dance track), "Heartbeat," "Miles Away" (which is about the ending of a long distance relationship), "She's Not Me" (which has Madonna dealing with some sort of "Fatal Attraction"), "The Beat Goes On" (this song has Madonna collaborating with another DIVA; Kanye West), "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" (which has Madonna dealing with an emotionally abusive relationship), and Finally "Voices" (in which Madonna and JT ask the question "Who is the master and who is the slave?").
In the song "Candy Shop" when Madonna says "I'll be your one stop Candy Shop" she really means it. From "Holiday," "Into the Groove," "Vogue," "Like a Prayer," "Ray of Light," "Music," and "Hung-Up," Madonna has proven that she always gives us something "sticky and sweet." She's the only Female artist that has proven that with time she keeps on getting better. Let's hope and pray that she continues to WOW us.
My grade for this CD; A+
